Being in business for over 20 years, my husband Greg and I believe the best way to grow your business is to duplicate it by developing leaders. Leadership is simply a lifestyle of giving and serving to meet the needs of others. Leadership is also a lifestyle of growing personally so you have something to pour into others. Read leadership books, listen to podcasts, go to events, and find people successful in areas that interest you and duplicate their efforts. Surprisingly, last Fall, we discovered an “Edutainment” reality TV show for entrepreneurs, and after watching, we agree with the “3 P’s philosophy” of Marcus Lemonis, a Lebanese-born American businessman, inventor, television personality and philanthropist. According to a CNBC article, “Marcus’ passion for business has landed him to star in CNBC’s new primetime reality series The Profit. In each episode, Marcus Lemonis will step in to save struggling businesses while investing his own cash in the process. Viewers get to see his personal mantra ring true: “Business success is about the three P’s: People, Process and Product.”
The 3 P’s applies to business, but we choose to believe it also applies to leadership. Recently, Greg and I were invited to speak to the OKC Entrepreneur Group at the monthly meeting, on the topic of growing our businesses by developing leaders (watch the talk). As a developer and multi-unit franchisee with Precision Tune Auto Care, Greg has wisdom to pass on to others looking to grow their own businesses. The success of my online business growth is directly related to developing leaders. In order to grow exponentially in anything, you have to have the ability to duplicate and multiply your efforts. Our goal is not to work hard forever, but to offer hope and contribute to the lives of others, make a difference in society, and have the ability to enjoy the fruit of our labors long after our hard work is done. The way to do that is to become a leader and choose to grow by developing leaders on purpose.
As a believer in Jesus Christ, I choose to follow after the patterns he set in place and his example of how to grow by developing leaders was modeled through the relationship he shared with his disciples. God calls all of us to be disciples and make disciples of others, as recorded in Matthew 28. Making (developing) disciples (leaders) is a great strategy for spreading the gospel and it is a great strategy for growing businesses too. The process of duplication involves entrusting all we have been taught (the product) to people who will do the same with others.
My personal mantra & process on anything I wish to duplicate and multiply is this: Do it! ~ Teach it! ~ Teach to Teach! REPEAT!
When we purposefully implement the 3 P’s, then teach others and teach them to teach others, we will naturally DEVELOP LEADERS!
Won’t you join the movement and choose to grow and develop leaders? It’s your choice and no matter what you think or feel…. Your choices matter!
